Amy!

My fabulous friend Amy came to visit me from Mississippi. And she is here immortalized with a purple sock (kinda makes you wonder what's in her sock, don't it?) prior to her departure. She sure made the boys giggle. Thanks Amy!

[more about Amy]
Hers was the wedding I attended in Mississippi that I sent out in an email oh gosh ages ago, pre-blogging. I thought I'd post some pics of that awesome event:
Catfish fry, Delta Bus Tour, Wedding, Reception and Blues Night at Club Ebony

that's Amy in the middle with the smashing green dress. J is in my belly, can you see him smiling?

Me and N dancing.

Hey. at least I'm posting SOMETHING.

FOUR

boxes of thin mints are in our house today.

(along with a new car.)

For the last TEN years, Smith and I have been a one car household. Shortly after we got married, we traded in his pickup truck and my non-operational BMW sedan (how I miss her leather seats, her tilty sunroof, her stick shift! and how I do not miss the repair bills...) We would commute together in the JEEP or take public transit where applicable. In fact, we rather enjoyed the joint commute as a time to devote to each other to stay connected.

And with having one car, we agreed that it would be okay to rent a car from time to time as the need arose. Since our need has essentially been every week since last November, we finally purchased another car. Ta-Da! And now we are the proud owners of a Toyota Prius. She is black (yes, entirely unsuitable for Texas we know) and very fish like. I didn't get the "fish" part until I got in and went for a ride. She's fat up front and thin in the back. A puffer fish? a flying fish? a grouper? We are taking input for a fish related nickname for the car...

I'm Almost Back

Yes. There has been a marked silence here lately. In this silence the following has occurred (in no particular order):

my back went out.
N turned 4 and had a big bouncy birthday party and I missed it.
I commiserated with octogenarians in the hot tub at the Y about my back.
I received my first open-mouthed kiss from J.
I made a pot roast.
N and my mom decorated the house with Valentine hearts.
N and Smith went to purchase the very special 4 year old birthday bike. Mid-selection, Smith called me on the sly to elicit my opinion about gender/color issues for said bike.
Smith bought 11 boxes of girl scout cookies. ELEVEN. The thin mints, however, are on back order.
My coolest, most talented friend Amy came and visited from Mississippi. She told me how her husband proposed and I cried.
