she's going to want a cookie to go with it.
And if she has a cookie with her tea, she's going to want to read the newspaper.
And when she's done with the newspaper, she'll want to gaze out the window at the falling snow.
And when the snow has stopped, then she'll pour another cup of tea.
And if she has another cup of tea, she'll have to have a cookie to go with it.
what are you doing on this snowy day?

What Procrastination Looks Like At My House
This is what I did this week instead of cleaning out the closet.

You can pick your choice of captions:
"It looks like you ran out of paint."
"Uh, you know they make brushes to do that."
"Kris? I think a Leprechaun just threw up in your bathroom."
One cannot see the detail from this image that each of those green-hued dots is individually placed by my right forefinger. One at a time. Pretty much took all day.
I updated my profile TWICE on facebook. Unprecedented.

Oh. and I made cookies.

I also contemplated an entire blog post about my "new" hair.

The closet in question. Be thankful my camera wasn't wide angle enough to peer around the corner.

Now I guess I really HAVE to ask...
Shortly after posting the loving review of Smith's providing me with morning coffee, he decides he's going to give it up (a little.) As in: stop making any coffee on weekday mornings.
sigh.
and yes. I'm perfectly capable of making my own, even have a machine to make it for me and have it ready and hot at the appointed time. but I won't.
so bear with me while I make my way through coffee-free, fennel-toothed days.
the fennel toothpaste has proved to be one of my weirdest impulse buys. What are some of yours?

More Fun than Facebook
and somehow more satisfying. does that make me antisocial?

Give it a try. just start clicking. and yes, mine took me forever to make.

Sometimes I feel like a REAL grown-up
I finally accomplished the major feat of getting slipcovers for our dining room chairs. There was the difficulties with size, pre-made or custom? fabric offerings out the ying yang and then my general level of being overburden with indecision (and spending a wad of moolah.)
Long story short, our chairs are now safe from the spills, wipes and forays of youth and food. I can just throw these hummers in the washer and poof! like new!
Ain't they purty? (I couldn't decide on the picture, so you get to see all of them and a clean dining room to boot.)

Stink Theory; or why I didn't go to the Y today
I woke up today and waivered. Today is Wednesday, a day earmarked for a trip to the Y for vigorous exercise, above and beyond what chasing kids can do. I waivered because I stank.
hmm. When did I shower last? I think it might have been Monday. Which was followed by a warm and slightly sweaty 3 hour ride back from Houston because Nbear was cold the whole ride and insisted on the heater. Yesterday I cleaned and sweated about the house. Then I sweated outside weeding. At times yesterday I would catch a whiff of something and think
"Whew! MAN! Is that a DIAPER?"
and realize, aghast, that no. it was me.
So. I felt too stinky to bring my presence to the Y. And showering before going to exercise is just plain silly. So I did not work out today.

More Happy Birthday To Me
Sometimes it pays to procrastinate.
I have been eyeballing several items in the Boden catalog since, oh, my back went out in January and I stared at nothing but the Boden catalog (I also knitted part of a scarf.) And when ye olde birthday rolled around, I eyeballed some more. And then I had some income from a freelance job and so I said okay! now I will buy! And then I got busy. My shopping cart remained up on my screen for countless days. But TONIGHT, tonight, after J had a terrible time falling asleep, I stumbled up the stairs at the late hour that it is to purchase said items.
to discover that everything was on super sale.
"I saved myself $200 tonight!" I exclaim to Smith who returns a wary stare... "saved?" he says with sarcasm. I hear the echo of my father in that remark.
I should also point out that I stumbled up the stairs to my lovely new birthday present from Smith, all nicely installed and up and running. (except Firefox darnit, so my hotlinks are a no go with safari.) I admit that at first glance, the practical side of me piped up loudly and said "Whoa! We don't need this! We could really use a XXX instead!" (feel free to fill in the blank here with "a refridgerator" or "new plumbing" because I certainly did.) Which, when said out loud, is the best reason NOT to get those things as my birthday present. Smith got me something indulgent (better than diamonds) something personal (better than perfume) something I will use every day (better than that fridge) and something that is all mine.
Thank you sweetie, from the bottom of my IMAC-loving heart.
